NYE 2015

2015 was a wild ride and I truly cannot believe we’re in 2016 already. It feels really strange to even type that! I’ve had so many ups and downs this past year but I really am thankful for so many things. I’ve developed deeper connections with some of my closet friends, met some of my favourite people for the first time IRL, pushed myself to get through tough times and really took a hard look at myself and where I need to improve. Although I can hardly say I’m 100% better and happier than I was at the start of the year, I’m doing better than I was. And I just feel more capable, too. My biggest goal every year has been paying more attention to this blog but each attempt has been pretty pathetic, to be honest. At least I won’t have to make that one of my biggest goals for 2016. I’ve been devoting a lot more time to myself, my blog and my youtube channel and it feels pretty dang great!
I didn’t really do anything specular for NYE but I was able to spend it with two very important people in my life; my boyfriend and my dear friend Hayley. Although our night was very lowkey, I couldn’t pass up the chance to get dressed up. My mother always told me that the way you spend your NYE will be the theme of your year, so I spent it in style. I’ve had this one sleeve dress for ages now, I’d say at least a year and my original plan was wearing this for the Nutcracker. I’ve been dying to find a place to wear it since and I really do think it was the perfect little number for NYE. At first I wasn’t really sold on this dress for me but now that I’m looking at these photos, I’m truly in love. The see-through detailing on this dress is divine, an added little bit of sexiness that I couldn’t really pass up when I originally bought it. I’m all for subtle sexiness these days, which is a huge difference than my usual mile of cleavage.
Let’s talk about my blue glitter eyes because I spent weeks thinking about doing this makeup. I’d say it was one of the key reasons I even bothered to get myself ready to begin with. A very long time ago I bought a bunch of glitter from BH cosmetics with the intention of using them but I just had no idea how to work with it. Now that my makeup game has improved I’m making it my mission to use all of the glitter colours that I own. I was really nervous about doing an entirely blue lid. I’m a sucker for natural colours and I’ve never played with bright colours before. I really think this paid off, though! If you’re interested in this look, please do let me know in the comments below!
With all that being said, i hope you all had a wonderful and happy NYE!
